Knee injury setback for Real Madrid starlet Jese
Real Madrid have announced that striker Jese Rodriguez has suffered a setback in his recovery from a knee injury.
The Spain Under-21 international underwent surgery on a torn anterior cruciate ligament last month that was initially deemed "successful", but inflammation has now been detected
The 21-year-old attacker tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right leg during his side's 3-1 victory over Schalke at the Santiago Bernabeu last month and underwent surgery in Augsburg two days later.
The operation was deemed a success but Madrid have now announced that the Spain Under-21 international has been forced to return to Germany.
"Jese Rodriguez moves in the coming hours to Augsburg Hessingpark-Clinic to undergo a review by Dr Ulrich Boenisch, after detecting inflammation in the operated knee, accompanied by a fever," read a club statement.
Rodriguez, who netted five times in 18 Liga appearances this season, had already been ruled out for the remainder of the 2013-14 campaign.
