Joachim Low’s men will head to the Maracana as heavy favourites to lift the trophy for the first time since 1990 after destroying hosts Brazil 7-1 in Belo Horizonte on Tuesday with a nerveless and utterly ruthless display. Arsenal duo Mesut Ozil and Per Mertesacker have both featured heavily for the Germans on their run to the final, while Lukas Podolski is also in the squad.
And Arteta – who says he has been in contact with his team-mates since the Brazil thrashing – believes the experience of winning the World Cup would enable the trio to help the Gunners reach greater heights when they return.
