Thiago Silva-Neymar can carry Brazil

'Neymar can carry Brazil' - Thiago Silva
Brazil youngster Neymar is good enough to carry Brazil at the World Cup, Thiago Silva believes.

The 22-year-old has been his side's star player at the tournament this summer with some dazzling performances and is joint top of the goalscorer charts with four strikes in three games as Brazil finished top of Group A.

And Silva admits the youngster is the star of the Selecao and a "great performer".

"He is an exciting talent," the 29-year-old told Times of India. "At 22, he can carry the team on his own, which is the sign of a great performer. We are really happy for him."

Brazil are set to face Chile in the second round of the World Cup and the centre-back insists it will be a difficult task for his side.

"[It will be] really tough as Chile are playing superbly," he added. "They lost to Netherlands, which was the best team in their group.

"But before that they had sent Spain, the world champions, home. In the qualifiers, too, they had performed well. So, we are in for a good exciting match."

The hosts are one of the favourites to win the competition this year as they look to secure the title for the sixth time and Silva says they have to get used to the expectations of the country.

"They [the fans] feel we have the ability and talent to win the Hexa [sixth title] this year. There's nothing wrong with the expectation. But in football, nothing goes according to what you wish.

"We are professional footballers. How to cope with the pressure is one of the things we have to learn."
